A recent article in PME has confirmed that patients who elect to receive compliance support messages via text on average improved their compliance levels to prescribed medication by around 10% compared to similar patients who did not elect to receive such text messages
It seems to me to be important here to note that not all patients elected to receive compliance support text messages and even those who did elect to receive them, not all chose to act positively upon them when they received them.
Compliance with prescribed therapy is a complex and multi-faceted subject, and ultimately whilst patients can be segmented into groups to a degree, every patient’s thinking and actions on compliance are individual, and need to be established as well as possible, for a compliance improving programme to be successful.
