Cries for “QOFXIT” are being heard from the Government and BMA in the same way as people called for Brexit. There is of course a lot of people who would agree, but it would be good to see as full risk assessment of the pros and cons if we have a QOFXIT and a detailed plan of the alternative. “QOF” may not be perfect and it needs to be reformed but I do not think we should bin “QOF”, instead it would be great to take feedback from the GPs on both the pros and cons and look at the risks of removing or maintaining QOF. Explore the suggested reforms and improvement of QOF, using change and risk management principals. We could improve the auditing of the records, using the indicators to prompt the GPs to have more meaningful conversations with their patients, which in turn may facilitate shared informed decision making.
QOFXIT are QOFs days numbered
