Are you Almost Compliant?

Almost is one of the longest words in the English dictionary where all its letters are in alphabetical order which got us thinking, how could you use almost as an acronym to ensure compliance with GDP and not just almost compliant.

Accurate – ensure your records are created accurately first time every time and created contemporaneously.

Leadership – GDP compliance starts at the top, make sure the leaders in your organisation know their role within GDP and create an environment in which the whole team contribute effectively towards GDP compliance.

MHRA – If you’re an RP or Licence holder reading this blog you will know who the MHRA are and what they do but does your team. Do they know the power an inspector has, if an inspector knocks on your door unannounced with their ID does your team know they are not allowed to refuse access. Their many departments, if one of your team took a call or received an email reporting a adverse side effect not listed do they know the Yellow Card Process.

Organisational Structure – An Organisational Structure should be a part of your Quality Manual but ensure your team know it too so the whole team know who to report to so all issues are captured, this could be a minor deviation, a critical deficiency (better spotted in house than in an inspection) all the way to falsified medicines which could go to a patient if unidentified.

Self-Inspection – are you completing them? Are you completing them effectively? Do you have a plan in place? An effective self-inspection plan and effective self-inspections can help raise deficiencies allowing you to utilise CAPA before an inspector comes in a gives you a finding on it.Training – ensure your team are efficiently trained on their job roles and also what role their job role plays in GDP, every department of your organisation has a part to play in GDP compliance it’s not just quality and warehouse.
