The GPhC have published guidance to Superintendent Pharmacist and Pharmacy owners with regards to Registered Pharmacy Standards.
The purpose of these standards is to create and maintain safe environments for the effective practice of pharmacy.
The responsibility to implement and comply with these standards sits with both the Owner and the Superintendent Pharmacist.
There are five basic principles under which there sits more details.
The first principle covers governance arrangements safeguarding the health and safety and wellbeing of both patients and the public.
The second focuses on empowering your staff and having an open learning culture.
The third standard covers the expected environmental conditions.
The fourth concerns the management and storage of the products and finally, the fifth standard focuses on pharmacy equipment.
