There have been several Pharmacy Regulatory changes which will come into force on the 23rd June 2025. Are you ready for them?
Firstly, the market entry for Distance Selling models is closing, if you are contemplating a Distance Selling Pharmacy, the application must be submitted by the 22nd of June to be considered. Existing Distance Selling Pharmacies will remain on the pharmaceutical provision list and can continue to deliver pharmaceutical services. Further to this existing Distance Selling Pharmacies have until October to review their provision of Advanced and Enhanced Services and ensure the services are fully remote, with no face-to-face provision at the Pharmacy premises.
Secondly, the regulatory test for adjusting Core Opening Hours has been amended. As well as the existing established route, there is a secondary route being introduced that provides another pathway to alter the distribution of the Core Opening Hours without changing the total number of hours provided. The test assesses the benefit of the change because the patient is more likely to assess the pharmacy during the amended hours than the existing provision.
