Pharmacy updates are coming into force on 7th January 2026 with regards to pharmacy supervision legislation and covering authorisations by a pharmacist who is absent or treated as absent – handing out checked and bagged prescriptions.
Running into the festive period can be a tough time for pharmacies, but this is the time to make sure that you are ready for the New Year ahead.
Several regulatory changes are due to come into effect today (1st October 2025), having been included in the amendment regulations laid before Parliament last week (The National Health Service (Pharmaceutical and Local Pharmaceutical Services) (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2025).
DSP (Distance selling premises) pharmacies will no longer be able to provide Directed services (Advanced, National Enhanced and Enhanced Services) face-to-face with patients at the pharmacy premises from today (1st October 2025).
