Pharmacy2U reduced service levels due to move to a new Automated facility does not bode well for Hub and Spoke.

Earlier in the year, the GPhC called on Pharmacy2U to take urgent steps to improve its service levels, after it failed to deliver prescriptions over Christmas. Pharmacy2U had been experiencing “unforeseen difficulties” with its move to a new “Automated facility” which resulted in patients not receiving their delivery of medicines over the festive season. It is very likely that a move to a Hub and Spoke model would result in the same issues and the new model must be carefully risk assessed to ensure that there would be no breaks in service or reduction in service levels resulting in patients going without their medication.
