Specific Mechanism

by | Aug 9, 2012 | Blog, Pharmacy Suppliers

When Poland, Latvia and others became members of the European Union, The Accession Treaty made a specific exemption to the free movement of goods in relation to pharmaceuticals. If any person intends to import or market a pharmaceutical product covered by the specific mechanism, in a member state where the product enjoys patient or supplementary protection, they must demonstrate to the competent authorities, that prior notification has been given to the holder or beneficiary of such protection. Pharmacy Consulting has  helped a client work within the “The Specific Mechanism” guidance in order to import their medicinal products legally. If you are considering importing or marketing any such product from any such countries please proceed with caution.
