Fake online Pharmacies equal fake meds

by | Sep 8, 2022 | Blog, Pharmacy

Fake online pharmacies equal fake meds, and there are still online pharmacies who are operating illegally and suppling fake/counterfeit medications to the public for a fee. These websites are created to appear genuine in nature and have help lines offering advice and reassurance to the patient that they will receive exactly the same medication as they would have if they had seen their GP, this was proven not to be the case during an ITV investigation.  This is further lulling the public into a false sense of security about how legitimate the business is and how safe the medication they receive will be.

Patient safety is at risk here!

These pharmacies are supplying vulnerable people with addictive medications some of which are not the correct medication or dosage for the patient’s complaint, the medication is arriving with no instructions on how much, or when to take it.

There are genuine online pharmacies with genuine Dr’s who will hold appointments to discuss if a prescription is necessary and provide the correct course of treatment. I would urge anyone contacting an online pharmacy to use the following link, and ensure they put their safety first before placing any orders.

ITV news have reported to the MHRA dozens of unofficial illegal websites supplying counterfeit medication to the public following their investigation.

Alison Cave, MHRA Chief Officer for Safety and Surveillance, said: “We take all reports of illegal websites seriously. All the sites highlighted to us by ITV are being reviewed and we will take appropriate action once investigations are complete.”  For the full ITV report, please use the link below.
