DSP (Distance selling premises) pharmacies will no longer be able to provide Directed services (Advanced, National Enhanced and Enhanced Services) face-to-face with patients at the pharmacy premises from today (1st October 2025).
The market entry process for distance selling pharmacies is closing on 23rd June 2025. Having been laid before parliament on the 2nd of June changes to the community pharmacy sector will come into force in 21 days.
The GPhC has issued new guidance for distance selling and online pharmacies which came into effect in February 2025.
The New Medicine Service (NMS) was introduced on the 1st October 2011 with the aim to offer advice and guidance for patients with long term conditions who are prescribed new medicines. The service is provided for free by the NHS in your local pharmacy.
