The Early Access to Medicines Scheme (EAMS) launched in 2014 and allows patients with unmet clinical needs to gain early access to unlicensed medicines and medicines to be used outside of their licence.

The New Medicine Service (NMS) was introduced on the 1st October 2011 with the aim to offer advice and guidance for patients with long term conditions who are prescribed new medicines. The service is provided for free by the NHS in your local pharmacy.
