Distance Selling Pharmacy

Remaining a market entry exemption does not always mean that your Distance Selling Pharmacy will be approved by your local Health and Wellbeing Board. Now more than ever, we are receiving calls from applicants wondering why their application has been refused. Whilst the rule is an exemption, any new application still needs to prove how the applicant will deliver essential services to real patients nationwide without the benefit of face-to-face contact.

When consulting to our clients on distance selling applications, we always like to talk through the proposed business model and prefer to complete an on-site visit to gauge any locational issues.  Ultimately however we always ask our clients to consider the differences in service delivery between traditional pharmacy and online pharmacy. Surprisingly, many had not considered this major hurdle!
