Dermal fillers may become Prescription Only – What do you think ?

by | Jul 24, 2017 | Blog

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics recommends that dermal fillers become prescription only. This would mean that they would not be able to be advertised in line with other prescription only medicines. Currently many prescribers order their fillers on prescription, rather than by way  wholesale now to save the VAT.

In addition training should be regulated. Currently in Scotland, doctors, dentists and nurses providing aesthetic treatments have to be registered with Health Improvement Scotland, and they may only work in premises registered with Health Improvement Scotland.

The problem is that beauticians and non-medical practitioners currently do not have to register and can practice from non -regulated premises.
