Do you need a Wholesale Distribution Authorisation (previously WDL)?

As part of the new regulations that came into effect last year, a number of companies have needed to review their business model and apply to the MHRA for a Wholesale Distribution Authorisation (previously Wholesale Dealer’s License or WDL).  There are some distribution activities that were previously exempt that now require this  authorisation.

We have dealt with a number of queries recently in relation to such matters.

Whilst the trickle down effect of the new regulations is only starting to be seen, this may be an optimal time to review your business model and its compliance.  You may now need this authorisation.

Examples of recent cases where there is now a requirement to hold an authorisation include community pharmacies supplying out-of-hours surgeries and 3rd party contracts.  It includes logistics companies handling the delivery of medicines.  Other interesting cases include the use of first aid kits.

Do you think you may need a WDA(H)?

Does your business handle medicines at any point?

If yes, call us for an initial discussion.  Our response will ensure you remain compliant with the new regulations and could offer simple peace of mind for your company and your staff..
