As advisors to medicine wholesalers and pharmacies, we concern ourselves with maintaining the integrity of the supply chain.  We stress the importance of being wary of falsified medicines and the pitfalls to look out for.

Why is this product so cheap?
Why is such a large quantity available?
Who is it for?
Where has the product been sourced?

Falsified medicines remain a reality to the pharma industry worldwide.  Their presence is not only harmful to your business reputation but also the end user.  We should never forget that the end user of a medicine is a patient and that patient could be you, your mother, your children … anyone.  Wholesalers and pharmacies should do their bona fides check and report any suspicious behaviour.

This month, the MHRA recently issued a statement about two men sentenced to jail time for the import of falsified condoms into the UK.  Whilst these men knowingly attempted to introduce falsified product into the supply chain the example made by the legal system serves as a reminder of the severity with which such cases are heard.

Diligence in all dealings will help ensure that only valid product enters the market.
