Do you supply first aid kits ? Do you know how they are stored? Do you know where they are stored?
Pharmacy consulting were asked to look at first aid kits on a private jet a few months ago. They were shocked to find that although the dressings were all in date , the packaging was discoloured and clearly damaged. These products are contained in a sealed kit which is only replaced when the first item is expired or they box is opened. But the products were clearly not fit for purpose yet still in date.
This started us thinking. If our customers expose our products to extremes of temperature and if our suppliers deliver our medicines, having been in aeroplane cargo hold, where the temperatures plummets during flights, and the medicines may sit on a hot tarmac awaiting loading or unloading, what is it doing to the medicines efficacy and stability?
MHRA inspectors have been asking our clients if they have monitored the ambient products during transit. As wholesalers do you know the temperatures your medicines and appliances are subjected to during by your logistic company? It would be worth tracking an order or supply to check.
