Ground Control

On our travels, we get to witness the dynamics within larger organisations. The chain of responsibilities and the delegations of tasks and duties. Without a doubt, the requirements to comply with the likes of the MHRA and ISO has brought about a stronger link and understanding between an organisation’s staff and their senior management.

Introducing work instructions, SOP’s and Self-Inspections can, and should be, a bridge between expectations and practicalities. A way to establish efficiencies whilst maintaining “on the job” realities.  Is there room for improvement though, or are there still grey areas between what the Management consider is the working norm, and what the actual day-to-day practices are, or in fact, should be?

Experience tells us that we write up procedures, and set up routines and resources, but then leave it to chance that it will stay intact. Relying on the dedication and experience of the people undertaking the work to see the operation through. The quality system formalises and assists in amendments and training/re-training, but it still requires the co-operation and in-put of everyone involved. Don’t let the opportunity slide.
