Homeopathy vs Placebo?

by | Mar 16, 2015 | Blog

Greetings and welcome back; must I say I am happy to be aback on the PCL blog rotation.

Some recently published pharmacy related news from Australia shows a set of research conducted by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has concluded there is little evidence (of quality) to show homeopathy is effective in treating health conditions.  The news showed that the study was based on an assessment of a total of 1,800 papers with 225 utilised for the review of evidence.

It was also stated that there were no qualified studies with sufficient participation to show that homeopathy caused improvements any better than a placebo.

The NHMRC said studies that reported effectiveness were small and/or poor quality.

The overarching message therefore being espoused from the NHMRC directed health practitioners to offer treatments and therapies based on the best available evidence.

Are you a patient of homeopathy? What are your experiences?

As a health professional, do you have an opinion? Have you evidence to the contrary?
