Good news for hay-fever sufferers they now have the choice of another over the counter medication which can be bought without a prescription.

The MHRA issued a public assessment report reclassifying Allevia 120mg (A non-sedating antihistamine) from a prescription only medicine (POM) to a general sales list ( GSL) due to the safety profile established after over twenty years of use and also the fact that the symptoms of hay fever are easily recognised and self-limiting.  This is good news for your customers who suffer from hay fever, however, care needs to be taken as some presentations are still POM  and risk groups should still  be referred to their GP

Allevia 120mg is to be taken once a day for adults and children over 12 years of age, care must be taken if a request is made by an elderly customers or one who may have impaired kidney, liver or heart disease, they should be referred to their GP. Allevia interacts with aluminium and magnesium which are present in indigestion remedies.
