Many CCGs have not implemented the new Nice Guidance on IVF. NICE has advised that IVF should be offered to single women and same sex couples and to women up to the age of 42. Some CCGs such as NHS Lancaster North CCG has rejected the new guidance and has added new restrictions such as a referral cannot be made if the couple have a living child whom they conceived together or if the female partner is over the age of 39 years at the start of their treatment.

Local commissioning will always lead to local variations however this may seem to the childless couples affected as a reason to move house due to a post code lottery situation.
