Selling your pharmacy? Some tips to consider

by | Jan 6, 2014 | Blog, Community Pharmacy

Welcome to our first post for 2014!

The New Year brings its challenges and opportunities for all and some business owner may be looking to sell their pharmacy.  Here’s some thoughts for consideration if you’re thinking of selling:

1. Price
Current market rates are based on multiples of 5 to 7 times the Net Profit.

2. Up to date financial information.
Out of date accounts will not suffice so make sure your accounts are up to date.  Buyers will ask for the last three years figures and will expect you to explain any peaks or troughs.

3. Consider the salary of the staff running the pharmacy.
If your staff are on high salaries then the purchaser may not wish to take them on. Review your staff costs (and all costs for that matter) before putting the pharmacy on the market and make any savings that you can.
