UK trade agreement

by | Jun 18, 2020 | Blog, Brexit

More trade is essential if the UK is to overcome the unprecedented economic challenge posed by the Coronavirus. The UK’s priority is to launch negotiations with the EU, the US, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

  • The UK is seeking a free trade agreement (FTA) with the US.
  • The UK is negotiating objectives for an enhanced trade agreement with Japan.
  • The UK government is also considering joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

The government is continuing its programme of work to reproduce the effects of existing EU trade agreements. The government has been clear that when negotiating trade agreements, it will protect the National Health Service (NHS). Any agreement will ensure high standards and protections for consumers and workers.
