The Windsor Framework was published in late February, and was hoped to be the long awaited resolution to problems that existed with the Northern Ireland Protocol, particularly in relation to movement of goods. The Framework was largely welcomed and the pharma industry felt that it could give them some clarity moving forward.
There has been much comment on the detail within the Framework and also on how the various parties directly involved would respond; would it get through the UK and EU approval process and what about the Northern Irish parties? What is clear is that if adopted, it will significantly simplify the movement of goods between GB and Northern Ireland………….. ……….What seems to have been missed from the press coverage is the timeframe. The DHSC suggests it will not come into effect until January 2025, therefore it is likely that all current processes and restrictions will apply until then.
