Your Prescription: Your choice

All patients have the right to choose where they get their medicines from. NHS England are launching a campaign to promote this message.

This comes in response to some pharmacists and GP’s seeking to inappropriately influence which pharmacies dispense a patient’s medicines.

A poster has been designed by the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) which NHS England is asking all pharmacies and GP practices to display prominently. Distance selling pharmacies should display this on their website and consider including a copy with medicine deliveries.

NHS England are keen to ensure all patients understand their right to choose and can exercise it without influence.

Pharmacies are of course allowed to advertise the services they provide but should leave it to the patient to make the decision on where they get their medicines from.

“Really enjoyed the training session over the last 3 days, John was a great presenter who did really well considering he had an audience from all over the UK…infact the world! I’m sure the face to face/classroom style presentation would have been more interactive as I certainly missed being able to bounce off others but this is no fault of John or the course contents. Learned so much from the past few days, more than I actually realised that I would. Thank you!”  February 2021… Read more
