Flu service success!

by | Feb 5, 2015 | Community Pharmacy, Uncategorized

Almost 90% of Local Pharmaceutical Committees (LPCs) have reported having a local pharmacy flu vaccination scheme commissioned during the 2014/15 season.  This shows that NHS teams are beginning to understand the value that community pharmacy flu vaccination services can offer and the public is now far more aware of the convenience of the pharmacy service.

Community pharmacy teams really are perfectly placed to offer the service, being the most accessible healthcare professionals within the community, and are able to offer the flu service without the need for an appointment.

The success this year is really a testament to all the hard work community pharmacies have put in to make the service work!

Tips for running a successful flu service

  • Think about your pharmacy and your patients. Would an appointment system work or would a ‘drop in’ service be better?
  • Be organised! This is with regard stock, paperwork and the general running of the service.
  • Go for it! There is no point being half-hearted.
