Qualification of Suppliers and Customers extra Due Diligence

by | Dec 19, 2019 | Blog

In 2019 many companies were suspended for trading falsified medicines and were victims of fraud.

The MHRA is advising wholesale distribution authorisation holders to carry our more due diligence checks and to remain diligent even after approval of suppliers and customers.

Check companies house.

Check if there has been a change of ownership or director(s) of the company.

Ensure you know the key contacts within the companies and their contact details and ensure they are kept up to date.

Check the scope of the licences that are held and ensure that they are able to sell or procure the products which you wish to buy from or sell to them.

If you are selling to a CQC registered organisation know who the registered manager is and check their registration at least twice a year especially of you sell controlled drugs.

Check that the Home Office licence is in date and the correct schedules are detailed in the scope of the licence.

Ensure the revoked and suspended lists twice a month without fail or you may find your company on one of these lists in future.

Look out for cheaper than normal pricing, missing Bollino stickers, changes in invoicing or delivery addresses or key personnel. Review your current procedure, look at the risks within your business model and protect your business in 2020.
